Kevin Kiley @KevinKileyCA - A quick update on my reelection plans. Gavin Newson broke my district into six pieces in hopes of making it easier to unseat me. I fully intend to dash his hopes. As of today, I’ve somewhat narrowed down the path forward.
My existing Third District has been sliced into six pieces, each of which forms part of a new re-numbered district: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. I can only run to represent one of them, and after many conversations with constituents, I have determined it will not be District 4.
This means that as of January of 2027, I will very sadly no longer represent the portions of Placer and Yuba County that are merged into the new District 4 (which stretches all the way to wine country). This is truly a painful decision to make, as I love these communities and have represented some of them for 9 years, between Congress and the Legislature. I do want to emphasize that I will still represent all of my current constituents for the next year. So please don't hesitate to be in touch if we can be of service!

New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani has endorsed Ecuadorian immigrant Diana Moreno, a fellow Democratic Socialist and former co-chair of the NYC-DSA's Queens branch, to succeed him in the State Assembly's 36th District.
Mamdani issued the endorsement on December 20, 2025, while serving as mayor-elect, backing Moreno for the special election scheduled for February 3, 2026. The Queens County Democratic Party formally nominated Moreno on January 5, 2026, securing her the Democratic ballot line despite her ties to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and her history of radical Left activism. She has also been endorsed by @AOC.
Moreno, an Ecuadorian immigrant and organizer, previously served as co-chair of NYC-DSA's Queens branch from 2021 to 2023 and as communications coordinator from 2023 to 2024. During that period, the organization advocated for radical left policies, including significant reforms to policing, with Moreno herself saying she wants to Abolish the police altogether. A 2021 photograph shows Moreno wearing a face mask with the phrase "Abolish the Police" at a DSA event.
