Border Patrol Agents found two backpacks filled with meth last weekend. The first abandoned backpack was found on Friday west of Interstate 19 near Tubac, AZ.
Agents patrolling on foot near a small mountain range discovered an olive drab backpack under a tree. Inside the bag agents found over 26LBS of methamphetamines packed in plastic.
The second bag was found near the ghost town on Ruby, when agents tracking a group of suspected illegal aliens found a discarded camouflage backpack in a brushy area. When agents inspected that one, they found over 27lbs of crystalized methamphetamine drugs in plastic containers.
A thorough search of the areas was conducted; however, no arrest was made in connection with the drugs. The seized drugs will be processed for evidence and ultimately destroyed on a later date.
