"Any decision about the future status of Greenland belongs to the people of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark alone. That right is fundamental, and we will support it," said British Prime Minister Keir Starmer as he addressed his nation over President Trump's threats of tariffs against European countries and his desire to purchase Greenland. Though the prime minister acknowledged the close relationship between the U.K. and U.S., we went on to say, "The use of tariffs is completely wrong. It is not the right way to resolve differences within an alliance." As Starmer concluded his remarks, he stressed his country, "will defend international law." President Trump threatened the use of tariffs against eight European countries opposing his desire to purchase Greenland.
