We did not want to go with an institutional publisher. We wanted to set an example that we can build outside institutions.
To my understanding, @PassagePress is making this their first nationwide distribution. And they need the preorders to get this sold at the normie Barnes & Noble chains. So far you are blowing past their needed metrics!
