>>176022DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - I know I’ve been talking about the book quite a bit lately; thank you for your patience. I’m in Idaho for two nights at @OldStateSaloon, and it’s been busy in the best way.
First, truly, thank you. Every preorder makes a difference. As I’ve mentioned before, each one helps Passage Press put more behind the book... from marketing to distribution, to getting it placed in stores like Barnes & Noble.
I didn’t sit down to write this book to make money. I wrote it because in early 2025 my life changed drastically. I was fortunate to have strong support around me, but I also felt a responsibility to understand what had happened; not just to me, but to many others. I wanted to examine the systems and institutions that have so much power over public life, and to ask how they’ve evolved over time and why they became so vicious.
This didn’t emerge overnight. Joshua Lisec and I worked through more than 1,300 cited sources, tracing developments back four to five centuries. If you count the material we reviewed but didn’t ultimately include, the number is far higher. Most of 2025 was spent immersed in this research.
At its core, the book tries to move past vague labels like "Deep State" or "Cathedral" and instead ask specific questions: Which institutions hold influence? How are they structured? What ideas animate them? How do people become part of those systems?
That’s what Unelected sets out to explore.
