For a surgical abortion, a woman needs a driver. Before we’d even start, the man had to sign a paper: a written promise to stay and return for her. Daily, I watched the same tragedy: the procedure would end, the woman would be in recovery, groggy and vulnerable, asking for him. We’d call the number. No answer. Straight to voicemail.
I saw women sit for hours, realizing they’d been abandoned by the very person who pushed them to be there. He got what he wanted: the "problem" was gone: and he didn’t even have the decency to drive her home.
Let’s be honest: Abortion was created for men, by men, to benefit men. It’s the ultimate "get out of responsibility free" card. It’s not about "freedom" for women; it’s about convenience for men who refuse to step up.
