As part of the Department of Homeland Security, the Coast Guard works with other DHS components to secure our borders, protect the Homeland, and keep the American people safe and secure. That includes using the Coast Guard’s unique authorities and capabilities to detect, deter and interdict illegal aliens, narco-terrorists, human traffickers, and other hostile actors – stopping threats before they reach our borders and threaten our citizens. This is nothing new or unusual.
