BV/BO here doesn't mind fixing it. Usually in publishing there is a editor to fall back on but in this world we are a one-band show.

Two things that can help is - read it backwards (from bottom to top) when copy editing. Fluent reading is based on probability. Reading backwards avoids "assumptions".

Another strategy is color coding the numbers in the template. It's used for dyslexics but good for everyone.
