The event to swear in Markwayne Mullin as the ninth homeland security secretary is starting, as a crew of eight workers jackhammers the tiles off the floor of the Rose Garden colonnade.
The colonnade wall is protected by white plastic. The plaques that highlight presidential achievements are still mounted underneath the plastic, but the presidential photos, including the autopen, have been removed.
There is also a white protective covering on a portion of the new Rose Garden paving.
This ceremony will be available live on a screen near you. I'll send the highlights.
