Freedom 250 @Freedom250 - Video: This Memorial Day, instead of saying “thank you for your service,” Karen Vaughn suggests saying:
“Thank you for my freedom. I know what it cost you, and I’m grateful.” 🇺🇸
Karen is a Gold Star mother and best-selling author of World Changer: A Mother’s Story. Her son, Navy SEAL Aaron Carson Vaughn of SEAL Team VI, was killed in action in Afghanistan on August 6, 2011, when his helicopter — call sign Extortion 17 — was shot down, claiming the lives of 30 Americans in the single greatest loss of Navy SEAL lives in history.
Since then, she has spent more than a decade traveling the country, sharing Aaron’s story and reminding Americans of the true cost of freedom.
This year, as America turns 250, let’s honor that cost. 🇺🇸

Freedom 250 @Freedom250 - Video: Medal of Honor recipient Patrick Brady reminds us that this is the season of patriotism in America.
It begins with Memorial Day — flowers on the graves of our fallen warriors. It moves to Flag Day, honoring the symbol of our sovereignty and the physical embodiment of the values written into our Constitution and Declaration. Then the Fourth of July. And finally the anniversary of D-Day, when our forces stormed the beaches of Normandy and helped save Europe.
Thirty-six days. One stretch of the calendar that begins this Memorial Day — a time to express our appreciation and our love for those who gave everything for this nation.
This year, as we approach America’s 250th, that gratitude matters more than ever.
Honor them. Remember them. Thank them.
