>>186710NIH Innovates @NIH_Innovates - It can be hard to tell the difference between Parkinson’s disease and other brain illnesses that have similar symptoms early on. As a result, people with Parkinson’s often wait a long time for a diagnosis.
NIH researchers used a type of computer modeling called machine learning to analyze the amounts of nearly 3,000 proteins in people’s blood. The model proved highly accurate at identifying people with Parkinson’s disease.
A test like this could one day make it easier to diagnose the disease with a blood test.
