The @USNavy has a proud legacy of providing disaster relief directly from the sea.
#SOUTHCOM has directed USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD 28) and USS Billings (LCS 15) to Venezuela to support @DeptofState-led U.S. government relief operations in Venezuela.
USS Fort Lauderdale serves as a floating command center with a flight deck to support heavy-lift helicopters and a well deck to launch landing craft. The agile USS Billings (LCS 15) can provide support close to shorelines, accelerating disaster response missions.
SOUTHCOM is surging available assigned U.S. military forces in our region to support U.S. government relief operations in Venezuela, following the devastating earthquakes that struck the nation June 24, 2026. @DeptofWar @SecWar @WHAAsstSecty @usembassyve @USAenEspanol
