America 250: C-SPAN's Up-Close Look at Star-Spangled Banner
The Star-Spangled Banner, officially the Great Garrison Flag, was the American Flag flown over Fort McHenry in Baltimore Harbor during the War of 1812 that inspired Francis Scott Key to write what became the U.S. National Anthem. Smithsonian National Museum of American History Curator Jennifer Jones gave C-SPAN a rare, up-close look at remnants of the original flag housed at the museum's Washington, D.C. facility.
