Mike Lee @BasedMikeLee - Majority Leader Mansfield was 30 votes shy of cloture on the Civil Rights Act of 1964 at the outset of debate.
We’re just 10 votes shy on cloture on the SAVE America Act.
We shouldn’t discount the talking filibuster strategy—especially based on incorrect factual assertions.
Parent Post:
Rachel Bovard @rachelbovard - Leader Thune claims the Civil Rights Act didn’t pass via talking filibuster b/c cloture was invoked. Yes. That’s the point. Mike Mansfield, leader at the time, didn’t start with the 67 votes he needed. The talking filibuster forced the negotiation that finally got them to cloture.

Mike Lee @BasedMikeLee - I have no idea
Parent Post:
M Lees @Lees1m - Leader Thune stated President Trumps team met with 20 senators and 15 were against filibustering. When did that meeting happen and who was at this meeting? Is there a record of this meeting?

Mike Lee @BasedMikeLee - We should know soon.
Parent Post:
Jeff Maner @revjeffmaner - But you feel as though Thune is going to come through? Thune isn’t interested in what’s right or wrong, he is pissed and throwing a fit because us great un-washed dare to question his authority. There are many senators that care about the people and do great work, like yourself. Thune isn’t one of them.
