POTUS began his remarks at 3:10pm ET as the crowd chanted “USA! USA!”
Early into the speech, a man wearing a shirt that said “America needs historians,” was escorted out of the room as he protested Trump. Your pooler could not hear what he was shouting. But at one point POTUS said: “I’ve done more for you than your parents.”
Shortly after, another person began yelling toward the back of the room. Your pooler could not hear or see what it was about, but did spot a yellow sign with the words “data center.” The protester’s voice was drowned out by others who began chanting “USA! USA!” Amid the commotion, POTUS quipped: “It’s the communists.”
During the speech, POTUS said Iranian leaders are talking to the United States about “making a deal.”
“Right now there are very friendly negotiations going on,” Trump said.
When speaking about the economy, the president mocked the word “affordability.” “I’m one day in office, and the fake news goes ‘affordability, affordability,’” Trump said.
Trump invited Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall, John James, who is running for governor in Michigan, and others on stage during his remarks.
James said Trump won Michigan three times (he won it twice).
POTUS talked about putting pressure on Senate Republicans to pass the SAVE America Act. The crowd cheered.
“Hopefully there will be no mail in ballots,” POTUS said. “Mail in ballots have proven to be a disaster.”
Pool was walked out of the room at 4:15pm ET as POTUS wrapped up his remarks.
