The letter is about building the tools for modifying pace, so that we can collectively have the option, not saying we should slow down now unilaterally.
Signatories have a wide variety of beliefs about which tools are needed, the particular way to use these tools or when they should be used (and people should read the individual comments to understand the range of perspectives), but more people should read what the text actually says.
