A Midwestern Doctor @MidwesternDoc - This is a very sad observation about the modern era
---
"The Instagram generation experiences the present as an anticipated memory."
This means many people (especially those heavily shaped by platforms like Instagram) no longer fully live in the moment for its own sake. Instead, while something is happening, they're already thinking about how it will look later- as a photo, video, caption, or post that others will see and that they themselves will look back on. The experience is half-lived in real time and half- pre-packaged as future content/memory. In other words, the present is treated like a photo opportunity or a scene being staged for later consumption, rather than something to be immersed in purely for itself.

A Midwestern Doctor @MidwesternDoc - That's why I linked to an article with all that information multiple times

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. A thread isn’t a substitute for high-quality scientific evidence.

A Midwestern Doctor @MidwesternDoc - Peter Hotez pulling this (alongside the WHO as part of a PR campaign) and pushing governments to censor & treat vaccine skeptics as terrorists is exactly what got me to join Twitter and work tirelessly—and successfully—to shift the narrative against unconditional vaccination.

I’m done honouring the rights of antivaxxers to express their ignorant and malicious opinions. They need to be charged with spreading dangerous health disinformation. We’ve been treating them like they’re mildly amusing.
