The BIC 4-Color pen was introduced around 1970, allowing you to switch between blue, black, red, and green ink with a single pen.
Everyone at school seemed to have one, although somehow nobody ever used the green. And if you were anything like me, you probably broke a few by trying to push all four buttons down at once.
The pen originally sold for about 77¢ in the U.S., equivalent to roughly $6.70 today. These days, a 3-pack can be found for around $5.65, or about $1.88 per pen.
BIC was co-founded by French-Italian industrialist Marcel Bich. When the company adopted the BIC name, the “h” was dropped from his surname, reportedly to avoid the unfortunate way “Bich” could be pronounced in English.

By nature, it likes to stalk birds. It lowers its head and works its tail. It can extend its spine to raise its height by at least 2 sun. Its color allows it to disappear at night.
I am convinced it is superior to all other cats.”
