Utah Officials Hold News Conference on Killing of Charlie Kirk
During a news conference with Utah officials, Governor Spencer Cox (R) said of the shooting death of Turning Point USA founder and political activist Charlie Kirk: "I want to be very clear that this is a political assassination." Turning Point USA is a non-profit organization that advocates for conservative politics on high school and college campuses. The governor said that a person of interest was in custody, but authorities were still looking for a possible shooter. Other officials said they did not believe there was more than one shooter involved but that it was still early in the investigation. Mr. Kirk was headlining an event at Utah Valley University when he was shot.
