Colin M. McDonald @AAGMcDonald - 🚨Trial Conviction by @DOJFraudDiv.
Jonathan Decker turned the practice of medicine into a money-making machine.
He provided prescriptions for methamphetamine and amphetamines to patients without examining them, including to patients with substance use disorders and with significant mental health diagnoses, symptoms of which were exacerbated by the drugs prescribed.
Decker recruited other medical professionals to the conspiracy—and earned thousands of dollars doing so—through text messages like the ones below in which he described his dangerous prescribing practices.
A jury has convicted him and he will now face sentencing.
Great work by @DOJFraudDiv prosecutors and agents/analysts from @DEAHQ, @IRS_CI, @OIGatHHS, & @HSI_HQ.

"The Fraud Division is providing full-spectrum accountability for drug dealers who cloak their activities in online telemedicine platforms," said @AAGMcDonald. "With this conviction — the eleventh in this landmark prosecution — we reaffirm that the Fraud Division will hold fully accountable anyone, whether in a boardroom or a doctor's office, who abuses their medical license and novel technologies to flood communities with dangerous drugs and put vulnerable patients at risk."

Colin M. McDonald @AAGMcDonald - 🚨Making this fraud scheme even worse, one convicted defendant, Luis Pino-Copete was a guest in our country while ripping us off.
In December 2024, he was given a visa to come to the United States. He then promptly joined this conspiracy to attempt to steal millions from the United States.
