Some highlights for you to check against transcripts: - The president again asked people to pretend he is on the ballot: “I’m really in to win it. We want to win the midterm … If you don’t mind please pretend that I’m on the ballot.” - People stood up and cheered when he offered $5000 checks if Republicans keep control of Congress. Near the end of the rally he brought it up again, and several people clapped and jumped up and down. - A protester was escorted out shortly after the president began talking. - There was thunderous applause for a Voter ID measure on the Ohio ballot; for POTUS saying that zero undocumented immigrants have been admitted across the border; and for his support for barring transgender people from women’s sports. - John Husted got applause when the president highlighted his attempts to get legislation passed that the president said would stop data centers from driving up utility costs. - People began streaming out from an upper deck and seats along the side of the auditorium once the speech hit the 45-minute mark. Around that point, the president read the poem The Snake and dedicated it to the town of Springfield Ohio - He pondered the future: “I’ll try a couple of years of being nonconsequential if you don’t mind. This is a dangerous position.”
