White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - Travel pool report #8 - Remarks conclude
The President concluded his remarks at 5:52 pm
One protester interrupted his speech at 4:33 pmand was quickly removed. POTUS praised law enforcement and reacted with his now familiar joke about the heckler going home to parents who voted for him.
On stage, he signed pardons, passed to him by Natalie Harp, for two mechanics convicted of violating the Clean Air Act.
The remarks were met with frequent applause and ovations, along with occasional boos, for example when Canada and Minnesota were mentioned.
Some supporters were holding "Build the line" signs, in reference to the Alaska LNG project.
Regarding attendance, your pooler will not venture an estimate of the crowd.
All seats on the floor were occupied. The bleachers were full and additional supporters lined the balconies overlooking the rink. There was some empty space at the back of the venue.
A note that the President gave a planned interview to Jon Decker (Gray Media) before taking the stage.
