Whatley spoke right before Vance, who took the stage at 3:03 p.m. Crowd was chanting, “JD” right before he came out to Toby Keith’s “American Ride.”
“How we doin’?” Vance asked as the crowd chanted “U.S.A!”
The VP shouted out the NC elected officials and candidates in attendance. He spoke about the administration’s border policy and said the country has reached net negative migration for the first time in 50 years, which drew applause from the crowd.
Vance said one of the things he’s proudest of “is that we will never allow major corporations to abuse the visa programs and replace hardworking Americans in North Carolina with what amounts to indentured servitude.”
But he said that it’s controversial “when you look at the other side of the congressional aisle,” “But it's controversial when you try to put Americans first for a change.”
He was then interrupted by a man seated in the risers who was holding a NC sign. It was hard to hear what he said but another member of pool heard him presence the Epstein files.
He was grabbed by security, who walked him out as crowd was booing.
Vance joked that he wanted to amend his previous comment before the interruption, when he said there had been zero illegal border crossings in the United States.
“But one isn't bad, right?” He said, getting laughs.
He continued on as the man was led out.
