Collins-Rector and his business partners, Chad Shackley and Brock Pierce, operated DEN out of a Los Angeles mansion. There, they held parties attended by Hollywood's gay A-list.[2] At those parties, Collins-Rector and others were alleged to have engaged in sexual assaults against teenaged boys.[7]

In August 2000, a New Jersey federal grand jury indicted Collins-Rector on criminal charges that he had transported minors across state lines for the purpose of having sex with them.[8] After his indictment, Collins-Rector fled to Spain together with Shackley and Pierce. Interpol arrested the three men on May 17, 2002, in a house in the Spanish city of Marbella. Shackley and Pierce were released without being criminally charged.[2] Guns, machetes and child pornography were found in the house.[7]

Collins-Rector fought extradition proceedings for two years before returning to the United States, where he pleaded guilty to eight charges of child enticement and registered as a sex offender.[9] He admitted luring five minors across state lines for sexual purposes.[10] He received credit for time that he had served in a Spanish jail and was registered as a sex offender under a weekly supervision.[10]

In 2006, a U.S. District Court granted Collins-Rector special permission to go to the United Kingdom to receive treatment for a brain tumor.[11] He subsequently renounced his US citizenship and has never returned to the United States.[12] In 2007, he was photographed in London, and in 2008 was living in the Dominican Republic.[13] As of 2014, he lives in a "European port city" and uses the names "Mark Collins" and "Morgan Von Phoenix".[2]

Identified in court as Jane Doe 4, Siebel Newsom broke down in tears recounting how Weinstein allegedly raped her in 2005 at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Eric Trump says more hotel and golf-resort naming deals are coming

NEW YORK — Donald Trump’s company is licensing its name for a golf resort in Oman in the first of what the company hopes will be several overseas deals, raising conflict-of-interest issues as the former president prepares to announce a possible third run for the White House.
The Trump Organization said the licensing deal — the first since Trump left office — is with Saudi developer Dar Al Arakan and will include a golf course, hotel and thousands of residential units in the Oman capital of Muscat.
Trump’s son Eric, who oversees the company’s global real estate interests, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the company is no longer bound by a self-imposed restriction not to make foreign deals while his father was president.
“You can expect more hotel and golf deals overseas in the future,” Eric Trump said in a text exchange.
Trump was expected announce Tuesday that he is running again for the presidency in a speech from his Palm Beach, Florida, club.
Trump’s company struck many real estate licensing deals overseas before he entered the White House, including for hotels and residential towers in Canada, Dubai, Mexico, India and Turkey. Some branding experts had expected him to put his name on more buildings after he left office, with the added brand appeal of a former U.S. president.
With Trump possibly running again, the company may feel pressure to move fast to add to the Oman deal. Asked if the company would halt such deals if his father was elected, Eric Trump responded, “Why would we do anything differently?”
The New York Times, which first reported the deal with the Saudi developer, said the $1.6 billion Oman resort will have an estimated 400 hotel rooms and 3,500 residential units.
Trump’s close ties to Saudi Arabia’ ruling crown prince drew heavy criticism following its blockade of U.S. ally Qatar during his administration and the killing of Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post journalist critical of the regime.
Since leaving office, Trump has hosted two tournaments at his properties for the upstart Saudi-funded LIV Golf series that critics say should not be given a venue in the U.S. given the regime’s human-rights record. Trump’s son-in-law and former senior aide, Jared Kushner, has also drawn scrutiny from Democrats for a reportedly $2 billion investment from a Saudi sovereign wealth fund for his investment fund started after he left the White House.
Unlike Trump’s build-and-own ventures earlier in his career, licensing offers a relatively easy and risk-free way to generate cash assuming his brand remains strong. Before his 2016 election, Trump’s real estate licensing deals generated as much as $30 million in revenue in 17 months through May of that year, according to financial documents he had to file as a candidate. Much of that revenue was profit since it was Trump’s partners who owned the businesses and bore the costs, not him.
Just how much is profit is unclear, but Trump’s longtime finance chief, Allen Weisselberg, told Businessweek in a 2015 interview that the company overall made about 50 cents on every $1 in revenue, thanks partly to licensing. Since the Trump Organization is private it is nearly impossible to confirm those figures.

Judge orders halt to Trump-era asylum restrictions at border

SAN DIEGO — A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the Biden administration to lift Trump-era asylum restrictions that have been a cornerstone of border enforcement since the beginning of COVID-19.
U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan ruled in Washington that enforcement must end immediately for families and single adults, saying it violates federal rule-making procedures.
However, his ruling conflicts with another in May by a federal judge in Louisiana that asylum restrictions remain in place.
If Sullivan’s ruling stands, it would upend border enforcement. Migrants have been expelled from the United States more than 2.4 million times since the regulation took effect in March 2020, denying migrants rights to seek asylum under U.S. and international law on grounds of preventing the spread of COVID-19.
The regulation was authorized under Title 42 of a broader law covering public health.
The rule has been unevenly enforced by nationality, falling mostly on migrants from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador — in addition to Mexicans — because Mexico allows them to stay within its borders. Last month, Mexico began accepting Venezuelans who are expelled from the United States under Title 42, causing a sharp drop in Venezuelans seeking asylum at the U.S. border.
The lawsuit was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of asylum-seeking migrants. ACLU attorney Lee Gelernt said Sullivan’s decision renders the Louisiana ruling moot.
“This is an enormous victory for desperate asylum seekers who have been barred from even getting a hearing because of the misuse of public laws,” Gelernt said. “This ruling hopefully puts an end to this horrendous period in U.S. history in which we abandoned our solemn commitment to provide refuge to those facing persecution.”
The Homeland Security Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

That was Sen. Mitt Romney, a Utah Republican, telling MSNBC that he thinks it’s time to bench former President Donald Trump following the GOP’s somewhat lackluster showing in last week’s midterm elections.
Despite some pundits predicting a “red wave” of Republican victories that would reclaim control of Congress, Democrats managed to hold onto the Senate, and the GOP picked up fewer seats in the House than expected.
And when Romney said he thought Trump was going to announce running for president for a third time on Tuesday, that’s when the senator broke out his “aging pitcher” metaphor.
“I know there’s some fans that love him,” Romney said, “but it’s time to get off the mound, because we have a real strong bench.”
Exit polling has suggested that anti-Trump sentiment and dismay over the conservative-led Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade earlier this year led many Democrats and independents to vote blue. And Romney echoed those same sentiments in an MSNBC segment aired on Monday night.

“Abortion played a much bigger role than we’d anticipated,” he said. “I think President Trump was an albatross on the electoral prospects of some of our candidates. He helped select some of the people who turned out not to be very effective candidates.”
Exit polling found that 28% of voters said their vote was meant to show their opposition to Trump, while 16% said they voted to support him. And just 39% of voters had a favorable opinion of Trump, compared to 58% who viewed him unfavorably — including a sizable 20% of Republicans.
Indeed, not only did many election deniers (siding with Trump’s false and debunked claims that the 2020 presidential race was “stolen” from him) lose in battleground states, but Axios noted that voters also mostly rejected candidates who had supported overturning the 2020 presidential election or wanted to restrict future voting.
The GOP bench includes Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Analysts say his strong midterms showing may have given him an edge over Trump to win the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
Romney has been one of the few Republicans who has been vocal in criticizing Trump over the years, including voting to impeach him twice.
Trump has returned fire at Romney, for example calling him a “super RINO,” or Republican in Name Only, after Senate Republicans reached a deal with Democrats on infrastructure PAVE, +0.55%.

Trump trolls DeSantis for dressing baby in MAGA onesie for 2018 ad

President Donald Trump trolled Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday after an old campaign ad resurfaced that showed DeSantis dressing his baby in a “Make America Great Again” onesie.
Trump, 76, poked fun at the 44-year-old governor’s past support for him as tensions between the pair escalated in the wake of last week’s midterm elections.
Taking to his Truth Social platform, the former commander-in-chief shared a clip of one of DeSantis’ 2018 gubernatorial campaign videos in which he boasts of Trump’s endorsement.
“Thanks, Ron!” Trump wrote alongside the video.
Trump’s post also featured a tweet from Patriot Takes with the caption: “Never forget that Ron DeSantis made an ad with his baby in a MAGA onesie and called himself a ‘Pitbull Trump defender’.”
DeSantis’ video, which was narrated by his wife Casey, showed the then-congressman teaching his young children some of Trump’s catch phrases and campaign promises.
