BEAUMONT, April 3, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A popular science and computer writer and editor of the Citizen Scientist, Forrest M. Mims III, reports that he was present at a speech at the Texas Academy of Sciences when a respected evolutionary ecologist and lizard expert called for 90% of the world’s human population to be wiped out to save the environment. Mims reports that at the 109th meeting of the Texas Academy of Science at Lamar University in Beaumont in early March, Dr. Eric R. Pianka received a prolonged standing ovation when he said that air-borne Ebola virus should be released in order to control world population.


Hours after Pianka had advocated the deliberate killing of 5 billion people, the Texas Academy named him the 2006 Distinguished Texas Scientist. The Citizen Scientist reports that to date, the Academy has not moved to sanction the speaker or distance itself from the speaker’s remarks.

Pianka reportedly calls himself a “doomsday” ecologist who believes that the world’s ecological balance has been catastrophically affected by the “overpopulation” of human beings. Mims quotes him saying that war and famine would not do. Instead, he suggested, disease offered the most efficient and fastest way to “kill the billions that must soon die if the population crisis is to be solved.” Pianka rejected AIDS as the disease of choice, saying it is killing people too slowly.

Ebola is a form of hemorrhagic fever that liquefies the internal organs; its victims die a horrifying, slow death and their bodies remain highly toxic after death. Some forms of Ebola only attack monkeys but some are deadly to human beings and have extremely high rates of infection and death.

In his online report, Mims says that a minute before Pianka began speaking, “an official of the Academy approached a video camera operator at the front of the auditorium and engaged him in animated conversation. The camera operator did not look pleased as he pointed the lens of the big camera to the ceiling and slowly walked away.” The Academy has no recording of Pianka’s talk.

Mims, chairman of the Academy’s Environmental Science Section, reports that Pianka began his talk by saying that the general public is “not ready” to hear what he was about to suggest. He says Pianka is “deadly serious.” Pianka received laughter when he said “with a discernable note of glee in his voice that, ‘We need to sterilize everybody on the Earth.’” When asked if he had shared his ideas with a general audience, Pianka responded, “I speak to the converted!”

Pianka spoke “glowingly” of the coercive population control program in China saying, “Smarter people have fewer kids.”


Pianka subscribes to the philosophical outlook common among scientists that human beings are no more important than animals, at one point exclaiming, “We’re no better than bacteria!”

Pianka is the latest in a long series of prominent, anti-human scientists who have called for massive culling of the world’s population as a solution to a theoretical population bomb endangering all life on the planet. However, beginning with Thomas Malthus, population doomsayers have repeatedly been proven to be spectacularly wrong in their predictions.

COP27: King Charles hosts meeting ahead of climate summit

King Charles has hosted a reception to discuss tackling climate change as global leaders prepare for the UN climate summit COP27.
About 200 politicians and campaigners met at Buckingham Palace, including UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and US climate envoy John Kerry.
The King is internationally known for his climate work but it was agreed he would not go to COP27.
The UN conference begins on Sunday in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
Mr Sunak told the meeting that the UK's global leadership on climate change will continue after its COP presidency ends this week. The UK hosted COP26 in Glasgow last year.
"Every moment that we allow climate change to ravage our planet we will see more human suffering," he said.
"If we do not act today we will risk leaving an ever more desperate inheritance for our children tomorrow."
Mr Sunak, who will attend the opening days of the summit, had faced fierce criticism from climate activists and opposition politicians for initially saying he would not go due to pressing matters in the UK.
The prime minister paid tribute to King Charles's work on climate, saying he had worked for 50 years to find solutions, long before the first UN COP meeting.

When former PM Liz Truss entered No 10, it was announced King Charles would not go to the summit.
The monarch has a long-standing interest in environmental issues and attended COP26 in Glasgow last year, but the Palace said it had sought advice from then-PM Ms Truss and that "with mutual friendship and respect there was agreement that the King would not attend".
On Thursday a spokesperson for Mr Sunak said, "had the prime minister been in post earlier the situation might have been different".

Buckingham Palace says the reception on Friday afternoon was organised to "facilitate discussion of sustainable growth, progress made since COP26 in Glasgow and collective and continued efforts to tackle climate change."
At COP26 in Glasgow last year, the King told leaders: "I can only urge you, as the world's decision-makers, to find practical ways of overcoming differences so we can all get down to work, together, to rescue this precious planet and save the threatened future of our young people."

David DePape, 42, is accused of breaking into the Pelosi home and beating Paul Pelosi, 82, over the head with a hammer after reportedly intending to hold his wife, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, hostage and break her kneecaps.
When officers responded to Paul Pelosi's 911 call at the San Francisco home and asked the two men what was going on, DePape responded: 'Everything's good.'
Instead of telling officers that he needed help, or trying to flee the home, Pelosi calmly smiled at them and then retreated back into the foyer where police saw the DePape strike him with a hammer, sources close to the investigation told NBC News.
It's not clear if Pelosi was already injured or what his mental state when he walked several feet back into the house, away from police.
In the San Francisco police report, both Pelosi and the intruder each had a hand on the hammer when officers responded to the home and began struggling over it as police yelled, 'drop the hammer!'

Government lawyers asked the judge to impose the partial stay as an appeals court weighs a request to vacate the part of his order that enables the depositions of Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, a Biden appointee; Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Director Jen Easterly, a Biden appointee; and Rob Flaherty, a deputy assistant to the president.

Absent a stay, “high-ranking governmental officials would be diverted from their significant duties and burdened in both preparing and sitting for a deposition, all of which may ultimately prove to be unnecessary if the Court of Appeals grants” their request, the government said.

Doughty ruled that the government failed to show how the officials would be irreparably harmed apart from referencing a diversion from “significant duties.” That didn’t meet the standard for showing irreparable harm, he said.

A Radical Left Lunatic Judge in New York City, who controls a newspaper dedicated largely to defaming me, who was appointed, & is controlled by, my worst political enemies, & whose purpose was to just do preliminary motions & preparatory work on a case brought by the corrupt and highly partisan Attorney General of New York State prior to being routinely sent to the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court, is refusing to let go of the case.
