It's a natural instinct of the ape human to be disturbed or even angry at anyone defying the social programming. Even people you think are more intelligent will have this instinctive reaction.
It is true said defiance will more often than not be cringe and embarrassing, but there is no other route to explore it, some times because you can't/don't bother finding the right words and framing to make it cool, since its for your own benefit and not a manifesto. Some times because you are just working out things that are cringe.
From my part, don't worry about it. As for others, as I said, just their programming.
