Mounted this one in a different (dumb?) way. I profiled the wood to match the hourglass of the hammerhead, the saw cuts allow the "too big" end to fit through the head, then I put a big screw right in the middle of the four quadrants to act as a key/wedge.
It's not as rigid as a normal handle (especially torsionally), but it doesn't seem like the head will fall off. Will update if it flies off and breaks something.
