the RE/SH remakes are the first example that comes to mind. I did get pretty far into nu RE2, but once it introduced Mr. X it became too anxiety inducing for me. Real life brings me enough dread. The thing is they're undeniably great games, and there haven't been a lot of those in the last decade, so it's a shame to miss out because of my bitch status
