the story of her conversion is a funny coincidence because I've been thinking about the brutality of the world quite a bit lately, maybe it's part of my very late adolescence but I'm not really talking about small or personal things like "it's so unfair that I'm expected to work" (I mean that too) but more like the sheer scale and reach of that brutality in time and space. Just yesterday I was reading about the sacrificial practices of ancient civilizations. That sort of stuff went on for millenia upon millenia and that's just one thing out of many. The relative peace and comfort I grew up in compared to that of the average person throughout history is almost hard to wrap your mind around. Mind-blowing revelations, I know. It's just not something I had ever thought about or understood all that much before I guess
