Yep, I should be able to stay for at least 6 months without much of an issue. I think it's slightly easier for europeans to get in
I'm a bit concerned about the oppressive government (farmers protests and ban on going outside into nature and hiking in Nova Soctia), but in the end I think the government is oppressive everywhere. As long as I live further out they might care less about it

I ended up looking at areas around Nova Scotia, where you linked that article of the hiking ban. It did say that the ban would end on Oct 15, so I might try my luck. If it's not ideal I'll take a look at other areas or might cross the border to go to the US
