Gold is to protect your money now. But certainly bitcoin/xrp or another form of digital currency will be required after the crash, we move towards digital, towards digital contracts, etc...
If I had a big fortune, I would put most of it in gold, and keep 10-20% spread in the better cryptos.
Since I'm poor, I just keep what I can afford to lose spread in the better cryptos.
