As for the movie.
For me the Vampire the Masquerade's WoD became the standard way of looking the vampire fantasy. I did read the clan novels beyond playing with the vidya VtMB, and couple of sitting pen and paper rpg. Also the clan novels in the Medieval setting which were a huge letdown.
I've finally watched the Underworld series last year, the first one is fine, the rest is meh, it's kind of a fanfiction for VtM.
I can enjoy other vampire themed media, like the Buffy series or From Dusk till Dawn, but generally I think they just depict a world with vampires wrong.
I also read and seen the Interview with the Vampire but it's just gay (although not horrible). Speaking of which I have not seen and no intention to watch the sparkling vampire.
From that trailer I'm not sure if that's any good. Reminds me of Constantine for some reason, which movie I liked.
