>>5571"Trap" is a word that has a generally accepted definition and also aesthetic baggage that goes beyond that definition. The definition of the word "trap" is something like "a passing AMAB cross-dresser who is probably attracted to males", which does involve gender and sexuality. The aesthetic baggage comes from the history of traps as a 4chan phenomenon. It was developed by AMABs but influenced by cis female camwhores both of whom performed for an audience they knew was mostly straight male. A 4chan trap is a fairly well-defined character if you try to imagine >her: slender, with no or small fake breasts, wearing striped socks and anime-inspired clothing and accessories like cat ears or actual cosplay. Trying to act like an anime schoolgirl is common. It's an act like being a goth at a goth party is an act. It would be helpful to have a separate term for this aesthetic and type of act but there is no obvious reason to lump the straight cis women who perform it with the various AMABs.
