interesting question. idk. they are definitely an integral part of most movies, whereas low budget old tv shows are more drama-driven and have minimal soundtrack. the only movies I can think of that maybe I watch for the soundtrack are John Carpenter movies or something. Some movies do have really dope soundtracks though and are the highlight of the movie and the movie would be not nearly as good without it.

wouldn't a better question be "do you think movies without a soundtrack are garbage?"? that's the equivalent of what I said about video games needing cinematic stories. my honest answer would probably be no though. I enjoy old british tv shows that have almost no soundtrack, so I can imagine a movie with no soundtrack. most normies these days can't stand that though, and would hate movies without a soundtrack.
