There is this story, happening in not one of the world's penitentiaries. An inmate was living in a two-person cell. One of his cellmates left the cell. Maybe he was released, it doesn't even matter. The inmate lived alone in the cell until one of the guards added another inmate to his cell. They didn't get along. Both of them wanted to be moved to another cell. They yelled, and a guard came. They told the guard what happened. The guard said that this is a prison, not a summer camp, and to try living together. However, the inmates figured out a solution to be separated. They began fighting. Guards noticed this and separated the inmates. Both were placed in isolation for 30 days, then put in separate cells. They forced guards to be separated.
A foster child, 17 years of age, was placed in a foster home. All of the doors but the one of their bedroom were locked. They called the foster agency, which did nothing about it. They were left alone in the house for 10 hours. They really needed to use the restroom. Instead of urinating onto the floor they decided to break down the bathroom door. The door was of such low quality that they succeeded. They wanted to drink water. As they used a violent method once, why not twice. They broke down the kitchen door. They drank water. The foster parents returned home, and called the agency. They described what has happened, and the child was swiftly relocated.
This story shows how minors are in some circumstances demoralized without their fault.
