/endpone/ 1.5 Update and News Anon Board owner 12/04/2023 (Mon) 08:56 [Preview] No. 8910 [Reply] [Last 50 Posts]
Minor changes and a few other things.

The update I have long teased is finally here. Not the biggest thing in the world but worthy of a announcement sticky.

NEWS:
Synchronized Rewatch Thread >>6985' is now launched for real. Details here: >>8889

Bunker: In the event of Endchan being wiped off the face of the earth, flee to here for now: https://8chan.moe/pone It is not a continuation of /endpone/ but a general bunker/secondary pony board held under friendly hooves. A more formal bunker maybe set up at some point later or organized post destruction depending on circumstances (that hopefully never will come or at least be at a point when we are better prepped).

The /chat/ thread is now cyclic: >>5562 The idea behind it to encourage more short form and casual discussion and a place to dump off topic posts nopony cares about too much. In reality, I am not sure much will change, but a worthy experiment. Higher effort random posts can still be posted to /NMAiE/, and to be honest, the board always can meander a bit in conversation.

The old NSFW no spoilers required on our NSFW thread: >>5560 has been revised. We have always been in practice more SFW than some boards around these parts and no one ever took advantage of the special exception for that thread. Plus, certain more extreme fetish content was not except from that anyway. TD;LR: normal chan spoiler rules now in place.

New banner has been added to the board, which wouldn't be worth mentioning if not for that if my recollection is correct, we haven't added one since 2019! I don't mind our banners being of a smaller number and a lot of them feel more special and carry a certain context, but certain things, like Seaponies, /go/, or the writefag thread probably warrant some representation. Here is my partial attempt to remedy one of those.

Welcome to /pone/! Or as we often call ourselves to differentiate from 8chan/8kun's /pone/ board, /endpone/. The pony board at the end of the known universe. This board is a bit different from most other pony boards on the internet and has generally composed of a tight knit group 2 to 3 core users. Though we welcome any old stragglers who come by. It can be a bit creepy so far out but our bat ponies and bridges can be pretty friendly once you get to know them. Maybe you can find a home here too?

Our rules: https://endchan.net/pone/rules.html

Somethings to keep in mind:
1 Follow the rules of Endchan. Don't do anything illegal.
2 This board has been in practice more SFW oriented, but NSFW has never been explicitly banned. Do to difference in taste and people's definitions of what counts as overly grotesque, a general spoiler rule has been put in place in all threads.
3 This board is not /mlp/, 8/pone, /mlpol/ or Ponychan. Not saying this board is the most unique or wonderful place in the world but a posting style and a limited culture has arisen that is distinct from those models and is arguably in sometimes in contrast. Expect sometimes long meandering discussions jumping randomly from topic to topic and experimental projects of various levels of merit. We also recognize that board culture is not finite and could easily evolve with what any new anon or two could bring something to the table that could alter things significantly. Just don't bring in a mentality of endless low quality threads and shitposting like glimmmmmer! to X is cucked. It would ruin the board and will not be tolerated.

/go/ - Golden Oaks General #3 Anon 05/13/2024 (Mon) 03:37 [Preview] No. 10357 [Reply] [Last 50 Posts]
Welcome to Golden Oaks! Sit back and get /comfy/ and dive into the vast amounts of data across the web that has been generated by the MLP fandom.

What is Golden Oaks?
Golden Oaks is /endpone/'s archival and analysis thread devoted to the rather broad topic of the fandom itself. Active archival is a major feature, but a variety of topics are also active points of discussion. From analysis of trends and situations, to self reflection and representation (Some /tech/ discussion related to that end is welcome as well!).

What is Golden Oaks not?
Golden Oaks is not for the simple dissuasion of the latest scandal within the fandom or gossip about X. These subjects maybe relevant at times in the discussion of certain happenings and periods within the fandom, but the thread itself shouldn't dive into drama without reason.

What is this place?
This is the Endchan's pony board. While we are microscopic we have regular posting and a fairly distinct culture as can be with a handful of anons and drifters. /go/ welcomes outside contributions. Feel free to look around.
Current /NMAiE/: >>8915

Announcement!
A new thread has been created:>>10356 /culture/ (...and More!) for better discussion of certain niche topics and deep dives when this thread is too cluttered or topics that maybe too tangential but still useful.

In the previous thread I saw that gateway.ipfs.io is gone (redirects to ipfs.io). Not so bad, I found that site to be unimpressive. Worse: cf-ipfs.com seems to be gone now too (3-test). It redirects to ipfs.io or dweb.link: both of which performed significantly worse than CF gateways from what I've seen (TTFB). #FuckGoogle image from cyb.

I recommend also using that site because Wayback Machine (WBM) sometimes deletes stuff. Multiple times, it seems that I got blocked from archive.ph. I am not the biggest expert in Fallout (my brother is a pretty big fan of the games) but from what I know about it:
>Reminds me of that one neoreactionary idea that democracy is incompatible with freedom
I am not sure it would be fair to say that democracy and it's assorted liberal values failed considering how hyper nationalist the US was before it's fall but this is still a interesting take nonetheless.

>So basically, side with the Legion because they are trying to set up a reactionary government (hopefully not a shitty one). Don't side with the NCR because they aren't trying anything "new".
I like reading perspectives like this and find your take interesting. I would make the argument that while the legion is a reactionary government (by some definition anyway ) it is relying too little on symbols and ideas that would be need to build a culture and a state within the a post apocalyptic US. The image and memory of Roam is powerful, and their is certainly a myth and history that you could built with that. Though within the crumbled remains of the US, you would have far less people who knew even the US' parts that were Roman influenced and would need to have some elements that drew upon the old United States or some cultures and figures from recently that would exist in the fragmented memory of whatever populous remained. Otherwise it is just something being imposed without roots. Something the communist had to deal with a lot the Soviet Union basically drawing on Russian nationalism and Church in certain awkward times. That doesn't mean it couldn't still succeed, but it is something that is a hindrance.

>Nazis are revolutionaries and not reactionaries,
Something a lot of people forget.

Which cartoons do you like or think are better than MLP FIM? Funny to think about now, but I don't think I have ever watched all the episodes of a cartoon. In the past I had an interest in "South Park" and "Family Guy". Oh, I watched all of the episodes of "Futurama" (and maybe also "The Cleveland Show"). Those are not really kid's cartoons. This thread is for Anons who want to give back to the community, either by writing their own stories or helping others with theirs. Also make sure to keep any ideas you have for a fan-fiction in this thread, and of course give your opinions on the ideas of other Anons.

I’ll make sure to check up on this thread regularly, to ensure that (you)’ll have at least one Anon to give you some advice or check your fic out.

Also this is not a greenfaging thread. This is explicitly for sharing fan-fiction and ideas for fan-fictions. There are other many green-text threads on this site, so feel free to take your greenfaging there.

>I am board

I'm on board with those who are bored!

I didn't finish, but liked the experience of reading Subjunctive - a story about the Changeling invasion of Canterlot but it was all about the proposed differences in how Changeling language works.
Since words can fascinate me, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I also started in on Project: Sunflower, which about a gal turned into a pony so she could spy on Equestria, since Earth was facing a gray-goo scenario and needed someplace to run to.
The reason I started on that, was I'd offered to critique a piece written in that universe that focused on building the apartment complex that would house the last billion people expected to be alive and retrievable by the time it had been cleared to begin construction.
That title, that I forgot, would only be interesting in you were fascinated by plumbing, and other engineering concerns. I could go either way, and this one didn't grab me since it was focusing on committee meeting drama and miscommunication, rather than the actual engineering of the building.

I skimmed through some of it and liked what I saw so far. It looks the kind of thing that I think was looking for: Off the beaten path from the big fics of old I see circlejerked while also not being something that was the reason people circle jerked them (Low tier self inserts and one shots). Thanks!

>I also started in on Project: Sunflower, which about a gal turned into a pony so she could spy on Equestria, since Earth was facing a gray-goo scenario and needed someplace to run to.
Can be interesting, can be not. HiE fics of this sort I don't autohate but have been done to death. I have always liked some of the anons' input around input so I'll give it a shot.

>I could go either way, and this one didn't grab me since it was focusing on committee meeting drama and miscommunication, rather than the actual engineering of the building.
I think this can be summarized as: Why have what happens in slack at work be the driving force of the plot? Plumbing, I known little but I can get engrossed in something if presented interesting enough.

I am going to throw in my two cents as well.

Fear and Trembling:'
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/66330/fear-and-trembling
This fic caught me off guard in very good way. I am not sure how much of that requires what my expectations were going in and how personal they were to just me. I will be citing this fic in a later post sometime.

Rainbow Dash: Re-Animator:
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/163282/rainbow-dash-re-animator
This is one of those stories that I thought wouldn't be my cup of tea, but the slightly comedic and more "cartoony" mad scientist feel of it I liked. I think what I liked about the most was the "comfy" feeling of Rainbow Dash and Sweetie Belle working together and sneaking around. It is still pretty dark and serious Rainbow Dash is trying to undo Twilight Sparkle's untimely death, after all. I will say I haven't read this in years and some stories I have revisited that I misremembered or now dislike them.I still think it fits though with your requirement of something that is good but a bit off radar.

Libera MĂ©:'
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/96323/libera-m
This one... I am the most mixed on. It looked interesting but I got 10 Chapters in and something just didn't click with me. I had planned to revisit it again. They made contact with the mysterious monster pretty early on from what I recall.

I've now finished Subjunctive. I feel too low IQ to really get in the nitty gritty details but I did enjoy it and it felt "fresh", compared to the usual stuff I read. I think I am a fan of highly detailed world building that autistically focuses on subtler aspects like that.

>Rainbow Dash: Re-Animator
This was good but just when I was getting into it felt like that it ended abruptly. It isn't too sort a fic but I think it would have benefited from Rainbow Dash and Sweetie Belle having a little more time being partners in crime together.

I have only just barely started to skim it. Will see how hard it is for me to grasp slight but VERY rudimentary interest in linguistics aside.

>I was getting into it felt like that it ended abruptly.
I remember partly thinking that myself, albeit:

I wasn't sure if that was just my own warped sense of pacing from reading so many 100K plus word fics over the years.

Let's see what happens as we truly entered into the G5 era since last /NMAiE/. Will it be as chaotic as Pony Life era was or will it be mundane? Even if G5 can't quite capture the lightning in the bottle we still can continue on and be comfy respite at the very least.

Note: Slight change in format as a lot of the activity has concentrated on a handful of important threads, so a mix of new threads and threads that are old but are seeing the most "action" right now/important in some way or have news. >letter-writing portion at the end of an episode falls on a Saturday in-universe.
>It would mean Twilight’s been in Ponyville for 5-6 weeks, which feels right
I am not sure I agree with episode air dates equaling dates of the episode, but I do like the idea of the time frame and that is a interesting detail with Celestia.

>It makes it clear in both episodes that she’s taking her studies seriously, but hasn’t quite found her footing yet.
Twilight Sparkle here feels very fresh out of her time at Canterlot avoiding social interactions here. She isn't acting anti-social but she feels more cold and distant.

>followed by this chemical experiment she’s doing. Is it somehow related to her friendship studies? Who knows, I’m probably going to keep pondering it though.
On the chemical experiments, Twilight was the smart character and thus, at least in the early 3 or 4 seasons, she sometimes being studying random science stuff just because smart character trope. I don't mean this as a wholly out of universes explanation either. I think she has some side pursuits and such chemical experiment might be unrelated!

>>10207
> but there’s just no way for an adult to watch this episode and see Dash and Gilda’s friendship as platonic, I reckon – at the very least it’s an angle I can’t imagine the creators being unaware of, even if it was accidental or unintended in some way.
If it had been a couple seasons in, I'd might agree with you, but here, I am not sure if that would've been an intent at all. I don't feel a romantic energy so much as old high school best friend and Rainbow Dash discarded her rather quickly. There is a longer point I want to make and I do want to examine this further but my brain is a bit tired to make it right now.

>Also it occurs to me that Gilda’s confrontation with Fluttershy was kind of set up earlier in the episode where Pinkie says that Fluttershy’s too sensitive for pranking.

I think Gildadash works fine as a ship but wouldn't be a ship I would take from the context of that episode, at least strongly I do have one potential counterpoint but that would require a full other post, lol!

>Honestly, I still enjoyed this episode, and I am not the type of person to really care that much on a bad lesson or two like how I recall some would back in the day
Coming from the company behind Transformers, it's more of a treat than anything. I love G1 Transformers but it's basically no lessons and all entertainment, which MLP seemed to be in earlier generations too. To get a balance of both here is not unusual per se, but could very easily have been absent altogether. I guess most people place value on children's entertainment roughly in proportion to how much learning of either a social or educational kind it imparts, though.
>>10216
>I am not sure I agree with episode air dates equaling dates of the episode
Nothing that exact, I think it's closer to a time-feeling or like an Equestrian equivalent to the sort of time frame they're being made or released. Possibly mostly subconsciously, too. I mainly mean to say that I feel like I see more of a correlation than not, and really it's just my desire to get a feel in my head for the timeframe of the whole show. I'm not watching like I used to, where each episode is a discrete package, I'm imagining the things inbetween the episodes, imagining the entire show as one singular continuous story (something which I don't think was ever really intended).
>she sometimes being studying random science stuff just because smart character trope. I don't mean this as a wholly out of universes explanation either. I think she has some side pursuits and such chemical experiment might be unrelated!
I don't disagree, but it's knowing that the research comes so much in handy with our next episode, Boast Busters, that gives me this suspicion that Twilight's got a sixth sense for researching topics that will come in useful to her soon.
>I don't feel a romantic energy so much as old high school best friend and Rainbow Dash discarded her rather quickly.
I agree it's one-sided on Gilda's part, but as for the rest... Well, it's two against one, so I guess my senses were wrong. I don't really know how close friends interact normally, so I accept that I may have just strongly misinterpreted it all.
> As for Pinkie Pie, she and Dash aren't mean spirited enough for me to go the full cynical route either but the tone is still a bit odd.
That's really where the writing is twisting around in a spine-breaking way to fit the lesson, which is where I somewhat agree with your point that the lesson in this episode is a bit janky in delivery, on reflection.
>If you didn't see the april fools post

Don't be 100% dismissive towards your point of view just because of 2v1. A lot of closeness that would have been purely platonic often can be intended for shipping fuel. Had it been in Season 4 I might have agreed.

>I don't really know how close friends interact normally, so I accept that I may have just strongly misinterpreted it all.
Know this feeling to an extent, at least in personal IRL experience over the last 10 years.

I find such things fun as well, btw. Overall... I need to get to how I treat show theories and such.

>which is where I somewhat agree with your point that the lesson in this episode is a bit janky in delivery, on reflection.
That is a good word for it. "Janky" fits better than hostile. Feels like something is missing or uneven.

>I didn't really know how to respond to it but I did see it, twas a fun april fool's
I am glad if you found any fun it, something of a tradition Dolores Umbridge and Nightmare Moon having done so in the past.

Alrighty, in a bit of a hurry so I'll be off for now.

First off, I like how ‘Boast Busters’ is a double pun. It seems a fairly obvious pun but I can’t imagine it was all that easy to come up with, unless the title came first and the episode was built around it. Or maybe the showrunners were just better writers than me. I’m intrigued by the fact that Spike refers to Twilight’s moustache spell as ‘growing magic’, and that it’s one of ‘25 tricks’. I assume he refers to them as tricks because Trixie’s magics are also ‘tricks’ later in the episode, but it seems kinda weird to refer to them as that all the same, and I don’t think there’s much reference to spells as ‘tricks’ later in the show. I also ponder whether by ‘growing magic’, Spike really does mean magic that makes anything grow. Growth is a potential future state of a given object, so presumably that means that Spike already had the potential to grow a moustache of his own accord in the future. Does future Spike shave? See I’d assumed this the other way around – when I saw ponies with moustaches, mainly upper class types from Canterlot, I assumed they had theirs done via magic. Then again we have people like Starswirl and such
But dragon facial hair we’ve seen even less of, if any that’s naturally-occurring. Anyway, just a little nitpick.
Spike later follows this up by saying that most unicorns only have a small repertoire of magic that matches their particular talent, so that lends support again to the idea that this really was an example of Twilight mastering growth magic in general, as a category.
Trixie’s fireworks caught my attention. I was wondering how she sets them off, and assumed she used magic, which made me think – maybe her big hat is to hide when she’s using her magic? I suppose that could help make the act more interesting in a world where people know how magic works already – kind of like how you look for where the switch is in a sleight-of-hand, ponies might look for where Trixie might be using her magic in a given trick, even though in both cases the audience already knows in advance the general idea of what kind of trick will be done and the rough outline of how.
Then there’s AJ and Trixie’s competition – I don’t really understand what was going on with Trixie’s half. AJ’s watching the rope move about, and it’s not like she’s not used to seeing things moved around with magic, so why is she so distracted by it? Is Trixie using magic with like, an attention-grabbing property to it? Though sometimes it seems like the magic ‘glow’ is more for our benefit as an audience, and I’ve toyed with the interpretation that the visual glow is shorthand for the ponies being able to ‘sense’ the presence of magic – I guess this either confirms that the glow is in-universe as well, or AJ was distracted by a wiggling rope for some reason.
When Twilight runs from the show with the excuse ‘I think I hear my laundry calling’, it made me think – in this world, laundry would be done by hand, right? Well, by hoof. Unless she means it was hanging up to dry. Or maybe, being Twilight, she used a spell to get it to do itself.
Also intriguing was that Snails had trouble using his horn to light up the cave, whilst Snips didn’t even try at all. I took away two things from this: first, I guess light is more necessary for finding snails than snipping things, so Snails probably has this ability whilst Snips can’t use lighting magic at all, and secondly, given that Snails is so slow, I wonder if magical ability is tied to intellect. Now, that’s a fairly obvious seeming conclusion, after all Twilight spends so much time reading and learning spells, but I mean that if it’s so hard for Snails to even use his magic at all, perhaps raw ability is tied to raw intellect too. It seems fairly obvious for unintelligent characters to be less good at magic, but it hadn’t occurred to me to concretely tie the two together.
Anyway I like this episode probably the best so far, first we get to see Twilight do something really cool, and she starts to really properly find her place fitting in with Ponyville.

Welcome to the official thread for NSFW content!

All your desires for posting NSFW content. Check the catalog first before creating another thread and post all that material here.

We have been discussing a lot about the spirit of this board and while it remains for the most part SFW, I do believe that /endpone/ should set up a proper regulated thread for this material.

Now, I am providing to you the rules of this thread. A lot of people go crazy when NSFW appears into the game, so let me explain a few observations and essential norms that should make everything clear:

ESSENTIAL (must read)

1. The three basic rules of Endchan are applied, especially those who have intentions to post real life pornography. Only fictional content related.

2. This is NOT /b/. Endless shitposting and taking advantage of the NSFW nature for derailing the thread with spam/low quality posts that prevent the usual activity (breaking the 3rd rule of Endchan) will not be tolerated.

3.The OP image for the thread must be SFW.

4.This does not necessarily preclude the creation of other threads that relate to NSFW topics, but this is the only thread in which you can post unspoiled NSFW pictures and is intended to be the main hub for such discussion.
57 posts and 76 images omitted.

Can someone explain to me why they draw something like this? You want to look for pictures of ponies with just a fat belly, and the whole rendition on booru is littered with this shit.

I once was looking for a Princess Celestia image where it showed her with some meat on her bones. Not overweight, not morbidly obese, just a nice hefty mare. All I saw was too-fat Celestia. With other and probably also canonical depictions of Celestia, she looks to skinny.

If it did exist, something like "chubby", or "overweight but not obese". For my Princess Celestia explanation: this would be "anatomically correct" in reference to the barrel of the pony. "Barrel" is "horse jargon"; it's akin to the trunk of a human. However, the anatomically correct tag mainly refers to genitals, so nope. The tag "horse" kinda means "anatomically correct". Maybe "anatomically correct barrel", but that sounds odd.

The trick isn't deciding what's wrong with the tags as-used-now, the trick is convincing the unwashed hordes it's worth going back to re-tag all the backlog of artwork so you can find what you want and exclude what you don't.

If you weren't so very, very alone, this would be reasonable, because that same unwashed horde would realize they could sort, favorite, and blacklist with greater precision.

And then you find out there are bronies who are angry because their upload of some art they found somewhere on the interwebs was denied because they couldn't string four tags together to describe what they were uploading.

The problem is those who have porn brain pollute things to freakish fetish territory. Kind of the way fetishes work. Anons who have more tastefull and moderate taste don't have good tags. You can find some attempts "reasonably sized X," but still their needs to be tagging work.

>(Ignore the following if you want. Thread maybe going to get deleted: >>10196 - I didn't post any thing there; I'm this guy: >>10254.)
I am not 100% familiar with the cultural norms here, but while they cluster to single threads I don't think they would delete this, at least right away, while your still asking a question.

>>10261
Even if alone, it isn't completely undoable. Personal booru software and a some elbow grease you could amass a good collection of reasonable pony images. Keep a list and mass tag the shit when you get a good idea of what to look for.

Wasn't there a anon here who did talk about something like this once? I don't think it was fetish related though.
