fwiw, I got that Anytone radio I got a few days ago mounted in the car, and got it doing APRS okay.

As the other fine NEET mentioned, it's a DMR/Digital Radio, which has a fucked-up mandatory membership thing which you have to sign up for just to configure the thing, with 'codeplugs' (what 80 year-old computer-illiterate people call config files) with all the channel details needing to be uploaded into the radio as well.

But I just want a fucking analogue radio, so I used the analogue Australian repeater CSV to make a CHIRP file with all the repeaters' details, uploaded that to the Anytone with QDMR, then downloaded the whole radio's configuration into a .yaml, edited that so the Zones were just each State (VK1, VK2..) and added Scan lists for each state as well.

I can now just use it like a non-retarded radio.
