You also have to have EVERYTHING you need before you start on those jobs, because if you drop the transmission or transfer case, or any of those sort of jobs, you will not be able to drive to the shop until everything is back together and re-filled with car juice.
Just ask the mechanic who did the work to number the things that need to be done in order of priority and get something done every month or so.
