I can assure you my older laptop with a lightweight Windows 7 works much better than a brand new one with Windows 10 which would force auto-updates daily and brick up from all the invasive bloatware. If you like the newest tech go for it, if not you can sell your older stuff and there would be plenty of people like me willing to buy it up and hold onto it.
