NOT OP and late to this thread. If you did your research that there are not many happy ending for individuals who are depressed. I've been depressed for over 7 years and cyt myself many times.

Let me ask you a few things so you could "POTENTIALLY" understand.

Do you want to be tied to a bed in a hospital if you tell the truth?

If you want to shower and all the hospital gives you is tear free baby shampoo... Would you still want to shower?

If you were a major threat to yourself do you want a nurse watching you 24/7?

And lastly: If you aren't on state funded program (If you are in the USA) how would you pay the $100,000 bill afterwards?

Being dead gives us the freedoms and pain from ourselves. But sometimes it doesn't work or your family wants to keep you alive for their own benefit.
