When I said magnetic I actually meant older magnetic tape technologies like video and audio cassettes (if you choose to collect physical media as well).

When it comes to magnetic discs for HHDs I agree with you, they are much more resilient long-term than SSDs and I have had far more luck with those remaining in good condition over the years.

In general the last 12 years I have been building up my physical and digital collections, having tons of media, many both stored on physical copies and in offline digital storage too. The best way to reserve media is to have multiple duplicate backups on various mediums and NONE of them that rely on third parties or "the cloud".
