while i don't have a self-built solar system yet even though i have most of the hardware, i have something similar that i can use to solarcharge directly into tool-batteries specifically and these tool batteries i have adapters for that can draw 12v, 5v usb, modern higher-voltage usb and also my specific kind of old laptop.

the next laptop i am building will only use the same tool batteries that i use to power my drill and my angle-grinder.
