I don't know why the resident feels the need to talk to me at the same time as his little friend, but he does hallucinate frequently so it's understandable.
That he projects his unemployability on others is another sign of insecurity, the belief that he "fits in" to any level that he could be "anonymous", or that "not desiring real people" is somehow a healthy impulse.
