Nothing really justifies that price tag. Above a certain price point, you're just paying for how sought after the wine is (small production, hype, etc) rather than quality.

That being said, I have had some four-figure wines that were religious experiences and some four-figure wines that I was like "huh, that's it?".

The best wine is something high quality, served with the best food, with the best people around you, in the best place.
