I've always preferred white bar tape, the Fizik stays white seemingly forever. But my current bike being essentially just black with white lettering, I feel the white bar tape is too stark, been trying gold, multicolor, etc. Black tape is a punishable offense IMO.

I think the wrapping depends on the tape's thickness, flexibility, stretch. I change the wrap method for different brands.
