>Thomas Dekker was briefly detained at Chicago airport upon his arrival in the United States. The Dutchman, who is on his way to Emporia to participate in Unbound Gravel 200, missed his connecting flight to Kansas City as a result.
>Laurens ten Dam discusses the incident with Dekker in Chicago on his podcast Live Slow Ride Fast. “He was in trouble,” laughs Ten Dam. “I had a missed call from him, but by then I was already asleep in my tent. When I woke up in the morning, I saw that I had received a bunch of text messages from him. ‘Lautje, I’ve been stuck for over an hour and now I’m missing my flight. What did they ask you last time?’”
>Apparently, Dekker was stopped upon his arrival in the United States because he has an entry on his American criminal record. During Dekker’s previous visit to America, he spent some time in a cell with Ten Dam because they were changing clothes for the camper in Oklahoma.
