March banzuke is out!
Hoshoryu is at the tipi-top now!
Excite all around.
I expect Hoshoryu to push with all his might on his debut as yokozuna. He had the angry dad stare before, now he can justly can put it into use.
I hope Onosate fares well again. He really needs a yusho. He fared better than in November, but he can do way better. For me he has a likeable character, who shows honest emotional reactions.
Kotozakura did poorly last time, kadoban now. But in November he managed to get the yusho with 14-1, losing only to Oho...
Oho! Dang, with his outstanding performance he was promoted to sekiwake! I have no idea how he managed it, because previously he really pulled mixed results. When he was up he got beaten a lot, when he was down he could climb back. He is obviously belongs to top half, top third, but is he good enough for the sanyaku ranks? In January I cheered for him, the idea was so whimsical. I think I stick to it and name him my fav.
The rest in the sanyaku aren't that exciting, but look at that Maegeshira #1 bros! Hah.
Takerufuji is at #6. I expect him to rise more. Another 10-5 perhaps? Or can we hope for an even better performance?
At the end of the makuuchi banzuke there was lot of movements. Shish is back at #13 and Ryuden at #14. Huge jump from the top of juryo. And look at that: Aonishiki and Asakoryu!
Poor Mitakeumi fell back to #17.
Juryo
Hokutofuji is down at #8, poor dude. I really like his intensity. Well that's about what I want to comment about.
Perhaps look at Tamashoho at #1.
