I didn't even read where it's from, but I've had this thought recently, I think because of watching this one tenshi tok posted here where you couldn't see her eyes for the first few seconds. It really does make it better, as in your mind fills out the blanks with much better things than reality could ever most of the time.
If it's not obvious I'm referring to the effect where if you don't see a part of someone's body you kind of assume it's all symmetrical and good and you extrapolate proper/perfect features instead of imperfect (which is more often the case).
It's also why anglefrauding works too when I think about it.
