Speaking of duolingo, I saw a youtube video of some guy who had been studying japanese daily for 600 days on duolingo and went to take the official japanese N5 (easiest level) test to get a certification. He said he could barely understand anything. Before getting to the test part of the video he talked about how he did it for 10 minutes a day but doing the stats he showed came out to 2,3 minutes per day for 600 days
