The monetization is what puts me off Hearthstone too. With Magic the Gathering, I've spent £20 and gotten 1300 physical, real cards on ebay. For £20 of real money on hearthstone I wouldn't get even half of that, they'd be digital, and random and probably not in sets.

I just bought all of some guys old magic cards, so there's plenty of synergies already baked in because obviously he used to actually play with these cards, it's been easy to make decks out of them.
